 2018 Preview 


       Charles Henderson completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region two, the Trojans earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Charles Henderson's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Central Clay County by a score of 42-14.

       The Trojans had some tough luck last season as four of their five losses were by less than eight points.

       Since 2010, Charles Henderson has gone a combined 61-35. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Charles Henderson has managed to compile a record of 161-105. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 5A and 95th in the AHSAA.




       The Trojans are led by head coach Brad McCoy who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 26-19 over the past four seasons at Charles Henderson. Under his direction the Trojans have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach McCoy.

       Coach McCoy's overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 60-38 (61.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach McCoy's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won two region championships.

       The Charles Henderson Trojans will play in Class 5A region two during the 2018 season. The Trojans have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 70-40 last season. That ranks 2nd in Class 5A and 16th in the AHSAA.

       Region two will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Trojans should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2009 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2018.

      

       The Trojans open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Pike County on Friday, August 24 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Pike County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 3A region three. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Mobile Christian by a score of 21-0.

       Charles Henderson and Pike County have met a total of 41 times on the football field. The Trojans have a 29-12-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 1999 with Pike County winning by a score of 14-12.
